season 2025
Rules and Regulations

1. PURPOSE
The Replica Tourer Trophy Series (RTTS) has been created to provide an annual competition (Championship) with a focus on low- cost, competitive and good spirited racing for both experienced and new drivers. RTSS is now recognised as a large competitive State Level racing series in Australia. Events are run over a number of different circuits across eastern Australia.
Key points that we strive to achieve with the series are:
• Develop and or enhance driving skills and race craft;
• Learn car set up to optimize performance outcomes;
• Provide a stepping stone to larger National based racing series’ should the driver wish;
• Go racing at a reasonable cost with the series having no joining or membership fees;
• Race within an series that promotes comradery and good spirits;
• To provide an environment for everyone to showcase and drive their pride and joy;
• Have an effective scoring system as part of class racing.
It is also intended to foster the development of local grassroots racing and encourage new entrants to the sport. Newcomers will be provided support and assistance while experienced/seasoned competitors will be expected to demonstrate consideration towards them under race conditions.
Based on the above and to clarify, a new competitor (or Newcomer) can only be considered to join the series if they have had, or can demonstrate that they have had, a reasonable level of track or circuit racing exposure/experience. As a guide, a new driver/competitor to the series may come from an existing racing series or maybe someone wishing to step up to a full racing series after plenty of track day or sprint series experience. RTSS will NOT accept anyone with no prior racing experience.
For those newcomers joining from a street sprint or track day background, their vehicle will need to have a “P” plate
displayed on the rear for a minimum of two race meetings. This is to ensure the other drivers are aware of the “new”
driver in the crowded field and act accordingly in support of that driver plus allow the new driver to be given safe
room on any passing or overtaking maneuver.
2. CALENDAR
The calendar for the 2025 RTTS is detailed below. Note that each of these rounds will be run in conjunction with each of the circuits or event organizers. Races will consist of sprint races, typically between 10 and 15 laps. Races at these rounds are run under either the AASA or RACERS Rules of Conduct.

3. ELIGIBLE VEHICLES
RTTS caters for all vehicles which have raced in Touring Cars, Supercars and Super Touring type completion both here in Australia and abroad.
1. The body shell must also have been at one time a production shell and road registered;
2. All vehicles wishing to enter the series must be free of any body damage and must be in a straight undamaged appearance;
3. Should the vehicle sustain damage during the season (this can be from several factors), it is expected that the vehicle is returned to a full and clean appearance for the start of the next race season;
4. All vehicles must be in a minimum of one single colour (however refer to LIVERY clause). To clarify- vehicles cannot enter the series with panels in primer or of an unpainted nature;
4. VEHICLE RACING CAPACITY CLASSES
All competitors will race in classes based on engine size:
• Up to 2Lt
• Over 2lt and up to 3.5 Lt
• Over 3.5lt up to 5 Lt
• Over 5lt and up to 6.2 Lt
• Open Class over 6.2 Lt (where a competitor has identified their vehicle as being of larger capacity such as an LS stroked engine).
NB: RTSS understands rebuilding of engines will occur and as such accept a capacity increase of 1% with the vehicle remaining in its stated class.
Should the vehicle have one of the following in addition to their capacity such as Forced Induction, Sequential Box, 4WD and/or a Rotary Engine, it will be placed in the next engine capacity class up. Should the vehicle have multiples of the aforementioned additions then it will be up to the RTTS Steering Committee to determine the most appropriate class for this vehicle/driver. Vehicles over 6.2lt will be placed in open class.
An example of the above could be a 13B rotary powered vehicle will race in the over 2Lt and up to 3.5lt Class.
Engine conversions are accepted and in the main must remain from the same manufacturer. For example, a Nissan Bluebird can run with an SR20 or FJ20 engine, a Holden Commodore can run with an LS series engine or Chev V8 and a Ford Falcon can run with a Modular or Coyote v8 as all are the same manufacturer. The specific vehicle is allowed to run the largest cylinder count that was factory available for that specific body shell. The Steering Committee recognises that this may not always be possible due to the unavailability of performance or motorsport versions of suitable engines from that specific manufacturer any longer. As a result of this, the Steering Committee reserves the right to review (on a case by case basis) a submission where a car / driver has an alternate power plant from a different manufacturer in mind or already installed that will allow the vehicle to compete in the spirit and performance of what Class it would fit into.
Parity changes will be judged by the Steering Committee should a vehicle (not the driver) prove to be MUCH faster than all of the competition in your class by a significant margin, you may be moved to the next class up to ensure fair racing for all. Please note that this would be a last option for consideration.
5. CHAMPIONSHIP AND CLASS WINNERS CLASS WINNERS
CLASS WINNERS

Replica Tourers has been developed to foster safe and competitive racing, in an environment which affords sportsmanlike behavior and demonstrates consideration to all racers.
The series encourages competitive racing, and as such it is recognised that racing incidents may occur. However repeated transgressions and overly aggressive driving will not be tolerated by anyone.
To clarify: Replica Tourers has a “No Contact” policy. As this is a higher level of state based racing, all drivers are expected to adhere to a mindset of no contact with other drivers while performing a passing or overtaking maneuver. Also Replica Tourers has zero tolerance for race rubbing. Should you deem a car in front of you is slower or holding you up (unintentionally or deliberately), you have no right to let that car/driver know your frustration by tapping or rubbing the rear of the car in front. Should this occur, it will firstly be dealt with by the circuit under their own code of contact for any warnings or penalties and secondly by the RT Category Manager. The RT Category Manager may impose additional penalties in the form of time or points loss for the race. Repeated transgressions will incur harsher penalties that may be in the form of exclusion from that particular round results or expulsion from the complete series.
11. ADDITIONAL RULES
All competitors must first and foremost comply with all Rules and Regulations of the sanctioning motorsport body, the racetrack operator and the event promoter or circuit owner. In particular they must take note of and comply with those rules and regulations relating to competitor licensing and conduct, vehicle preparation and presentation, and competition rules found in any of the circuits information packs for the specific round being attended.
ADDITIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RULES OF CONDUCT:
- Sportsmanlike behavior is Competitors are expected to drive competitively and safely, showing due respect for others machinery and person.
- Vehicle contact is NOT TOLERATED, all passing maneuvers are to be done
- New entrants are required to be aware of and show consideration for other competitors and use their mirrors If they observe a faster car approaching them, they should at all times maintain their racing line. The onus is on the overtaking car to get around the slower car safely and when appropriate. Similarly, the new entrant must not endeavor to deliberately block or hinder the overtaking car.
12. IN THE EVENT OF AN INCIDENT:
- Any competitor who has been involved in contact or any other incident must immediately report to the DSO/Category Manager. If you have an issue with a competitor, you are not to approach them aggressively. If the matter can’t be resolved with a handshake and an apology the matter must be taken for resolution firstly to the circuit’s chief steward with assistance from our Category Manager. The DSO/Category Manager will act as mediator in these situations on the driver’s behalf with all infringements to be dealt with by the driving standards officers at the specific circuit.
- For the 2025 Season it is now a mandatory requirement to have at least one forward facing camera (i.e a GoPro Type Camera or similar) in your vehicle working at all times while on track. This must capture forward vision and driver inputs to the steering wheel. The DSO/Category Manager will require all video footage of the incident to present to the driving standards staff at the specific circuit as part of any complaint or dispute resolution activity. This might come from the cars directly involved or be obtained from other competitors who have witnessed the said incident in dispute.
- More than one camera in the vehicle is allowed and up to the competitor.
13. LIVERY
As a requirement for the 2025 Season, any car wishing to enter the Replica Tourers Trophy Series MUST have some form of livery on the car including a sponsors front windscreen banner. For consistently and uniformity the banner must be displayed in full as supplied, on the upper most part of the front screen, no other sticker or information can be displayed on top or over the sponsors banner.
The race car needs to be easily identified as a race car and NOT a road car or track day car. As this is a state level racing series, the Steering Committee endeavours to ensure the series has identity and is easily identified as not a track day or sprint event.
Replica Tourers will NOT dictate what level of livery needs to be on the car in any way as this is up to the competitor however any new competitor will need to provide images of their car prior to entering the series. Livery could be determined by the competitor as a minimum of several decals promoting their business or a minor sponsor.
NB: Any vehicle that has been allowed to compete in previous Replica Tourers seasons without livery will be
exempt from the above unless they choose to apply livery from the 2023 Season onwards.
14. DISPLAYED COMPETITION/RACE NUMBERS
All vehicles must display their race numbers in the correct locations (glass only) as per the circuit or sanctioning body’s requirements. However as a guide we recommended drivers review Motorsport Australia’s Schedule K for size and location which will ensure compliance at all tracks and events.
Numbers must be in Dayglow Yellow, 150mm tall, 50mm wide in Helvetica Bold. Positioned on the passengers side, top corner of both front and rear screens and the most rear driver and passenger side glass windows. Drivers name must be on the bottom edge most rear window both sides in white Helvetica bold. Upper case first letter 100 mm high followed by lower case remaining letters 60mm high. No other size or colour is permitted on any glass.
15. CAR PREPARATION & SAFETY CAGE
As Replica Tourers is classed as a State Level racing series, it is therefore mandatory to have your car prepared to suit this level of racing and have either a Motorsport Australia (MA) Logbook, Australian Auto Sport Alliance (AASA) Vehicle Passport or QTCC Logbook. Please refer to MA Technical Regulations as a guide for race car preparation.
As a guide, it is mandatory to have a minimum of an MA or AASA approved and registered 6 point roll cage. We always recommend though that for any new build being considered for racing in Replica Tourers, that a National Specification roll cage be considered as this will provide the driver the most comprehensive protection level.
It is mandatory at all tracks that your car is fitted with an approved containment seat (Head Restraint models are not mandatory but recommended) and 6 point approved race harness.
We recommend review of the MA Schedule J to provide key data in State and National roll cage design and registration with a link provided below;
While it is not a requirement at every circuit, we recommend a minimum of a single 1kg MA approved fire extinguisher be fitted to the vehicle.
It is now mandatory to have a driver’s side Window Net fitted to all vehicles at all circuits for State Level competition.
It is now a requirement at all circuits that a high intensity Rain Light be fitted to the vehicle at its most practical rearward position (Rear parcel shelf inside rear screen is no longer accepted). They must be on a separate switch to the headlight system in the vehicle. As a guide any FIA approved type rain light will comply and these can be purchased from all leading motorsport supply businesses.
An FIA type battery isolator switch with external vehicle shut off/pull chord is mandatory with appropriate decals for this and battery location mandatory.
The rear bulkhead of the vehicle must be sealed with appropriate paneling to form a fluid and fire barrier from the fuel system/boot area to the driver’s compartment. NB: should the vehicle be fitted with an under floor/under vehicle fuel system then this requirement is negated should there be no fuel system in the boot/trunk area.
16. DRIVER SAFETY & APPAREL
Again as we are a State Level racing series and NOT a sprint or track day event, all driver safety items and apparel must be a minimum of State Level compliant. We always recommend MA Schedule D-Apparel to provide a guideline for your driver preparation needs to ensure when you are scrutineered at the track you will not be rejected.
We have included a link to Schedule D below for your review and convenience;
Regardless of this we can clarify quickly that you will need a minimum of SA2010, SA2015 or SA2020 rated helmet for State Level racing fitted with approved HANS Device Posts. A HANS device (or Frontal Head Protection device) is mandatory at all tracks in Australia for State Level racing and above.
While Lakeside Raceway allows a single layer race suit under their Grass Roots Race Series (GRSS), all other circuits mandate a minimum of a two layer FIA rated drivers suit. As such, we recommend a minimum of a two layer suit to avoid being refused entry at scrutineering. You will require an FIA rated Drivers Balaclava, Gloves, Socks and drivers Racing Shoes/Boots to complete your minimum apparel requirements.
17. DRIVERS LICENSING REQUIRMENTS
For circuits that Replica Tourers attends, ALL drivers MUST hold a minimum of a National Racing License with either Racers or Auto Sport Alliance Australia (AASA). This cannot be done on the day of racing and must be sorted by the driver a minimum of several weeks before attending any State Level race meet.
NB: The RACERS National License is now NOT recognized by either Morgan Park Raceway or Queensland Raceway from 2023 onwards. You may still use and maintain a RACERS National License for use at Lakeside Raceway.
NBB: For drivers with an MA or AASA National License wishing to attend Lakeside Park Raceway Replica Tourers events, you will need also obtain a RACERS Clubman License on top of the either of the above National Licenses. This is NOT a Replica Tourers requirement and is specific to the circuit.
